| Siddhartha Children and Women Hospital (SCWH), Butwal Rupandehi |

After completion of the construction works, Siddhartha Children & Women Hospital in Butwal (Town in Western Nepal) started functioning from 2nd November 1998. This is the first pediatric hospital outside the capital city. The hospital has very peculiarly integrated the general hospital services for women as well. Hospital is serving the community with 50 Beds. |

Popular Japanese newspaper ‘Mainichi' had taken the initiative to raise funds for the construction of this hospital. Famous Japanese Architect Mr. Ando Tadao had volunteered to design the hospital. The hospital is located near to the birthplace of Lord Buddha (Buddhist God). The hospital itself has been named after Buddha's childhood name, Siddhartha.

Butwal Municipality, Butwal Chambers of Commerce and Industries and District Development Committee, Rupandehi have been mobilized to contribute for the maintenance phase of the hospital. |

| Overview: |
- Established on November 1998.
- A joint initiative of Public Private Partnership; HMG/Nepal, Butwal Municipality , FNCCI and AMDA.
- First and only one hospital of Children and Women, especially in Nepal located outside the capital city.
- Recognized as the 50 bed charity hospital.
- Provides speciality services for Children and Women.
- Has acquired more than 10 bighas of land from local/HMG authority for the use of hospital.
- Hospital building, and other blocks are constructed using resource of local stakeholders and from kind support of AMDA Japan.
- Renders NICU, PICU services first time outside Kathmandu.
- Community based program "PHASE" covers more than 18 VDCs of Rupandehi district.

- Mayor or designated person from the Municipality chairs the Local Management Support Committee of this hospital.
- Japanese medical experts are involved for the transfer of their knowledge and skill.
- Provides scholarship to dedicated staff for the higher study.
- Provides OJT for medical and paramedical students.
- Has provided OPD service to more than 22,780 patients in 2061.
- Runs 24 hour emergency service.
- Conducts more than 6 deliveries/birth daily with intensive care facility for newly born babies.
- Regular OPD service for Medical, Surgical, Gynecology/Obstetrics, Eye, Dental, orthopedic etc.
- Economic pharmacy, USG, ECG, Pathology, X-ray.
- Organizes mobile clinics around the periphery.
